Such profound descriptive words of the power of the Holy Spirit and so beautifully written. I must add that this can only come with the gift of salvation, through repentance, and not through anything we can ever do to deserve it. It is so true that once you feel the power of God in your life, there are many ways to incorporate Him into every intricate part of our lives, which is His desire. He wants to be everything to you, just as you need Him to be everything to you. It brings such perfect peace & security.

Just reading your newsletter Mike, and the comments here have calmed my mind and made me feel more relaxed.

And wouldn’t you know it, just lately, “Be still and know that I am God” has come into my head at various times this last week. And I needed it as I had to attend the awful event of the funeral of my brother-in-law. Without this statement in my mind I would have been a screaming mess! We had a lot of stress, it felt too much to bear, until the statement “Be still and know that I am God” calmed me.

And I don’t believe in coincidences, especially when God is involved!

It’d be great if scripture ref’s. were provided in support of post statements.

Just a thought, thx 😊

You can always do a quick search, any search should find the ref. I’ve downloaded The Amplified Bible on my mobile device-I’m quite new in Christianity (about 3 1/2 years), so The Amplified Bible is helping me learn. I don’t know the refs for verses!

Searching helps us familiarise ourselves with The Bible, I reckon!

What’s BCV in your username mean, if you don’t mind me asking, Value Man? Just curious!

Thank you! 😊

The acronym BCV stands for;

‘Book Chapter Verse’

I do know of that app., as I used to use it. May I suggest the Blue Letter Bible (BLB app) to you? Once you’re familiar with it; there is so much more you can quickly do and personalize within it.

I am a blessed Christian (Acts 17:11) belonging to Christ, (1 Cor. 6:19-20) as having properly responded to the gospel (uaggelion), God added me to His church.

Wherein I humbly serve His great commission ( Matt. 28:18-20).

I just recently found & started using substack & its my hope that you subscribe to following my BCV handle writings ✍️

I strive to focus on the pre & post text of the context. As this is a great way of staying connected to the truth (John 8:32) as Gods inspired word (2nd Tim. 3:16-17) should always be exegetically considered & hermeneutically interpreted.

I pray 🙏— may God further bless you in “thee faith” (Eph. 4:5).

I’m trying to teach this to my children: To love practicing the presence of God and to be sensitive to His Holy Spirit.

Thanks, Mike. Agree completely. One thing we do need to remember is that, IMO, we can take action AFTER we have been still and known that he is God. That time of stillness can get our spirit aligned with his. So often we formulate a plan of what we can do to help in a given situation without taking that time to be still. I find that I even need a brief second or two before I speak so I don’t say something that would hurt or offend someone else. The tongue is small but very hard to control.

I’m thankful for your honesty and going to ask God to help me pause before speaking. Oh how many times have I spoken and realized I’ve hurt someone needlessly. Bless you

Amen Amen Brother! Pray & Meditate on GOD in us and The Will of GOD in our lives But also who He is and All the Glory in Him & His attributes He bestows on us now ... You can ask GOD anything but what He has for us is far greater that our own ability to imagine JOY; this puts Joy in us & are strengthened by it!

Nehemiah 8:10 ;for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. 🙏🏼🕊🙌🏼🔥

Please make it clear that the Holy Spirit is not a ‘free for all’, but only for those who are committed to follow the Lord in obedience.

There is so much ignorance among people, even in people who say they believe and go no further. Thank you for a brave ministry in a pagan world.

I've been getting the same thing lately about "Be still and know that I am God". I bought a decoration from Hobby Lobby recently that has that on there.

Oh that’s great. I really think He wants us to stop trying and let Him. A big part of that is to be still. It’s also how we can behold in His presence

Beautiful words. As a man who has struggled with anxiety for much of his life my wife used to say to me ‘take your foot off the accelerator Terry’. In other words - ‘slow down’ or as per the Bible - ‘Be still and know that I am God.’Being busy is valued by the world but not by Jesus. We all need to learn to sit more at His feet….and be still.

I've come to the conclusion that I do my best writing at night, in the dark, when everyone else is in bed because that is the only time I succeed at being still and deeply hearing God without distractions.

Expand full comment
Mike Donio's avatar

I agree. If there’s too many distractions then I worry it’s just me trying to force it and convince myself that it’s the Lord’s voice. We really do need to have that still, quiet time with Him to allow our spirits to work with His.

I’m so sorry for your loss. That’s awful. All glory to God. I take no credit myself. He knows exactly what we need and when we need it. Take the Lord as your peace and comfort during this difficult time and He will guide you through. God bless you.

Having experienced it myself it truly is mind blowing, Mike. Usually in the early morning or late evening just before going to sleep. No distractions, put your mind at rest, think of what you want to talk to Him about, and speak from your heart. It has only been a few times for me, but suddenly there is a still, small voice, almost imperceptible.

Glory to God.

Yes it truly is incredible but for me just knowing that He’s there even if I don’t hear or feel anything is still so calming and reassuring.
